We have all been there, minding our own business, and then... something unfolds itself before us that insists on being memorialized before the moment is gone. These moments can happen in a flash.. and there you are.. with your good camera in your bag, or at home.. or you don't have a good camera!!

The beauty of technology of today is everyone has a pretty good camera, in your super-smart phone! Yes, the picture quality isn't always amazing, and you most likely couldn't blow this up big on the wall, but you caught it. It isn't perfect.. but it perfectly frozen the moment in time.

Case in point, one day my daughters dragged me to DSW, the Costco of shoe stores. We perused around and ended up in the Clearance section. I was on the next aisle and heard my daughters giggling over these ridiculous shoes they found. Just as I am coming around the corner, I see my youngest McKinley, all 5'11 of her, balancing and kicking her leg over her sister, and gently landing it on her head. Sienna, my oldest, turns and looks at me for help. "WAIT! Hold that there!" I shout as I grab for my phone. I quickly shoot the shot and then, as McKinley drags the colorful stiletto down from its perch, Sienna looks at me with a smirk and says.. "You are a horrible mother". haha. We all dissolved into crying laughing fits, man I am so thankful that our girls got our senses of humor!

This is one of my favorite pictures, its kind of blurry as I was fumbling with my phone to get it, but that is part of the charm to me. It's part of the story..

So my advice to you is, it doesn't matter what your equipment is. Savor that moment for as long as you can and capture it to share with future generations. These girls are almost out of my house...Time is fleeting.. and if I couldn't catch it with my camera, I'd soak it all in and remember all the details to tell their kids about that one time.. while shopping at DSW.

Family love https://www.marniraephotography.com/blog/2014/6/family-love One of the beauties of photographing is being able to catch life's many amazing moments.. Recently the family has been going through my Grandma and Grandpa's thousands of pictures. I am so thankful there were people around that were documenting life during that time. Specifically my Grandmother's father George Fishback, who was a beautiful photographer. Seeing my Grandmother, now 95, sitting on a blanket as a baby is just precious. Personally being able to take her to and document the first time she had returned to the sea after many years away.. priceless.  My goal as a photographer is to have you feel like you are right there with me.. Its a gift for me to be able to share this moment with my family, who all love and adore Grandma Mary Barber.
